Trauma and anxiety

What this pathway supports

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

PTSD can involve flashbacks, nightmares, feeling on edge, avoidance, or feeling disconnected from others.

Complex PTSD

Repeated or prolonged trauma can also create shame, trust difficulties, relationship challenges, and a negative sense of self.

Anxiety-related difficulties

Trauma can also contribute to phobias, OCD, and generalised anxiety, especially where people feel stuck in fear or avoidance.

Trauma-informed care

What to expect

  1. AssessmentAn initial 60 to 90 minute assessment explores history, current difficulties, and hopes for therapy. If requested, a full assessment report and diagnosis can also be provided where indicated.
  2. TherapySessions are tailored to the individual and may draw on TF-CBT, ERP, EMDR, NET, IFS, or somatic approaches depending on need and preference.
  3. Phased approachTherapy usually follows stabilisation, memory processing, and integration, while still moving at a pace that feels safe and collaborative.
  4. Medication and wider careWhere clinically indicated, psychiatry input and medication can support recovery as part of a broader care plan.
  5. Reclaiming lifeTreatment works toward recovery, resilience, confidence, and a meaningful life beyond trauma.
