Inspired By Real Need
Arete Health was founded in 2023 by Abbie Alao and Dr. Sola Olowookere, driven by a deep awareness of the growing gaps in mental health and neurodevelopmental services across the UK. Having worked extensively within the NHS and private sectors, Dr. Olowookere witnessed firsthand how long waiting lists and fragmented care could leave individuals and families struggling without the timely support they deserved.
A Vision For Care
Motivated by these experiences, Dr. Olowookere set out to create a service that put people first, one that offered compassionate, thorough, and expert-led assessments and therapies. Arete was born from the conviction that high-quality mental health and neurodevelopmental support should be accessible, personalised, and delivered in a way that truly understands each individual’s unique journey.
Expertise And Excellence
From its inception, Arete aimed to bring together a multidisciplinary team of highly qualified clinicians, including consultant psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, paediatricians, and specialist therapists. By blending extensive clinical experience with a genuine passion for helping people, Arete ensures that every assessment and treatment plan is thorough, evidence-based, and tailored to each person’s needs.
Empowering Unique Minds
Central to Arete’s mission is the belief that every mind is unique and deserves to be supported with understanding and empathy. Whether helping a child navigate ADHD or autism, or guiding an adult through anxiety or trauma, Arete seeks to empower individuals to embrace their strengths, manage challenges, and move forward with greater confidence and purpose.
A Lasting Commitment
Looking ahead, Arete continues to grow as a trusted partner in neurodevelopmental and mental health care, building strong relationships with NHS trusts, schools, and local communities. At its heart, the practice remains committed to transforming lives by providing clarity, expert support, and a warm, welcoming space where every person feels heard, valued, and cared for.
